Obituary for Fredna Ulmer Gibson
Fredna Ulmer Gibson, 90, wife of the late Wendall P. Gibson SR., passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Laurel Baye Healthcare of Williston.
Mrs. Gibson was born in Hampton County on April 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Tuleous E. and Pearl Heape Ulmer. After graduation from Varnville High School in 1944, she moved to Walterboro and worked as a surgical assistant at Colleton County Hospital. It was there she met Wendall, the love of her life and they were married for 62 years. Mrs. Gibson retired from Barnwell County Hospital after 30 years service. She was a member of Hagood Avenue Baptist Church and Harmony Hope Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 3 pm in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Catoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery at the airport. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Mrs. Gibson devoted her entire life to the nurture and care of her family. Survivors include her children, Wendall P. (Mary Beth) Gibson Jr. of Barnwell SC, Suzanne (Leighton) Williams of Americus GA. And Mrs. Gay Peace of Boca Raton FL, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and special caregiver, Mrs. Earline Sanders of Blackville SC.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson.
The family would like to especially thank all of the staff at Laurel Baye Healthcare and Hospice Care of South Carolina for their comfort and care this past year.
