Obituary for Amilious Jennings Morris
Amilious Jennings Morris, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Morris was born in Olar SC on February 1, 1924. He was the son of the late Amilious Festus and Genia Creech Morris. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann Morningstar Morris and his brother, O'Neal Morris. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation"having served in the Army Air Corp, WWII in Italy. He was a former employee of the Savannah River Plant and retired from Carolina Eastman Co. He was a devoted and oldest active member of the Olar First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Olar Lions Club and an avid Braves and Carolina baseball fan. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Olar First Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Lovett and Rev. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening at Mole Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Olar. Survivors include his beloved daughters, Jennie Ann Morris Brown (Dave) of Barnwell, Gail Morris Posey (David) of Olar, Genia Morris Floyd (Edward) of Walterboro and Kathy Morris Ayer(Dean) of Ehrhardt; grandchildren, Windi Williams Weaver (Billy), Tara Williams McCann, Jason Houck, Kelly Houck, Sims Floyd (Haley), Christian Floyd Altman (Byron), Elizabeth Ayer Bessinger, Colby Ayer and Madeline Ayer; great grandchildren, Will Weaver, Walden Floyd, Banks Floyd, Abigail Altman, Grayson Altman and Noah Bessinger; niece,Harriett Morris Platt (Charles) of Olar; special friend, Laura McMillian Kirby of Bamberg.
