Amy Zawacki Lajoie went home to be with the angels on September 18th, 2025 with devoted husband Gary, loving son John and dear friend Nancy McKnight at her side. She was born on August 9th, 1968 in Buffalo, NY. Amy is also survived by her parents, John and Chris Zawacki, brother Jim Zawacki, son Matthew (Megan) Lajoie, grandson Cooper, niece Shelley (Steven) Walling, nephew James Zawacki and their 6 children.
Amy loved to cook and at age nine prepared a full Thanksgiving dinner. Over the years many friends enjoyed her Christmas basket full of all kinds of homemade goodies. Grandnieces loved "Aunt Amy's" mac and cheese and were treated to special cakes for their birthdays. But her main goal in life was being the best wife and mother possible.
As a licensed Medical Assistant, Amy was very devoted to helping care for the sick. It was 11 years ago, while working with cancer patients at SCOA that her world changed. when she was paralyzed from the chest down with Transverse Myelitis. Many surgeries followed along with MS, Interstitial Lung Disease etc. Those who knew Amy could not believe the challenges she faced daily, but her faith in God gave her strength to do all she could.
On October 11th, at Mole Funeral Home in Barnwell, the family will have visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, with prayers and Celebration of Life following from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Visit the online guest registry at molefh.com.
