Barbara Still Fakoury, 83 of Cary, NC passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Heartfields of Cary. Born in Barnwell County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Clarendon Still and Ethel Mae Still. She graduated from Barnwell High School in 1957. Upon furthering her studies in bookkeeping, she served as bookkeeper for various businesses in and around Barnwell, including her late husband’s dental practice. She was a member of the parish of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church for many years. After her husband’s death in 2003, Barbara moved to Cary, NC to be closer to family.
Barbara loved being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano, watching old movies and partaking in family dinners. Those that knew her well, will miss her pleasant spirit and great sense of humor.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Russell M. Fakoury; sisters Helen Black, Latrelle Toole, Willie Dell Keele and Myrtis Jones.
She is survived by her daughters Debra Dolbec (Wayne) of Katy, TX; Frankie Dasburg (Darren) of Cary, NC; Sophia Townes (George) of Estill, SC; son Russell Fakoury of Durham, NC; stepdaughters Dr. Terry Fakoury Smith (Carlos) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Connie Ress (Jim) of Lexington, SC.
She will be terribly missed by her grandsons Nick and Evan Dasburg, Jake and Ben Dolbec, Russell, Jack and Joseph Townes.
A family rosary will be held at Mole Funeral Home on Friday, May 5th, 2023 from 5:00 - 5:30 PM. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 -7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church 168 Madison Street in Barnwell with burial in the Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery 228 Hagood Avenue.
