Obituary for Benjamin Charlton Griner
Benjamin Charlton Griner, 87, passed away on Sunday August 14, 2016 at his home. Mr. Griner was born in Hampton County on October 16, 1928. He was the son of the late Benjamin Frampton Griner and the late Sara Duke Griner Hayes. He attended the Citadel for three years and graduated from the University of South Carolina. He was the retired owner of Barnwell Heating and Cooling Company. He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge #17, The York Rite and Omar Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11 AM in the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church with Rev. Robert Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Apostles Episcopal Churchyard. Visitation will be held after the service in the Parish Hall. Memorials may be made to the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, 228 Hagood Ave. Barnwell SC 29812. Survivors include his wife, Mary Mauldin Griner of Barnwell; son, Benjamin Charlton "Benji" (Sheila) Griner Jr. of Charleston; daughters, Julie (Robert) Powers of Timmonsville, Sara (Sally) Raymond of Irmo and Angie (Sam) Dowdy of Barnwell; grandchildren, Heath (Shanti) Powers, Lance (Erin) Powers, Tobin (Jason) Moss, Ben (Maggie) Griner, Julian Raymond, Chad (Lauren) Dowdy and Megan (Kurt) Mueller; great grandchildren, Mary Elaine Powers, Russell Rowers, Maggie Powers, Kyla Rose Powers, Kaden Raymond, Drake Mueller, Gage Mueller, Charlie Dowdy and Kate Dowdy.
