Obituary for Billy Hammond Hartzog
Blackville SC Billy Hammond Hartzog, 78, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 in the Southern Palmetto Hospital, Barnwell SC. Billy was born in Barnwell County on February 20, 1937. He was the son of the late Chester and Doris Dyches Hartzog. He was a retired carpenter having worked a number of years for Robert Tyner Construction and previously worked for Milliken Inc. Billy was an US Army and SC National Guard veteran. He was a member of the Hilda First Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Funeral services will be held on Monday June 1st at 2pm in the Hilda First Baptist Church with Rev. Gerry Williams and Rev. Gene Long officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday at Mole Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Stephen and Vickie Smith in Hilda SC Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Smith Hartzog of Blackville; sisters, Betty H. Sturkie of West Columbia and Annette (Arthur) Hiers of Hilda; brother in law, Stephen (Vickie) Smith of Hilda; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Youth Mission Fund at Hilda First Baptist Church or the Gideon International.
