Obituary for Wess Westmoreland
Billy Herman “Wess” Westmoreland, 77, passed away October 16th, 2022. He was born March 1st, 1945, in Morristown, Tennessee to the late Jack and Thelma Westmoreland.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy K. Westmoreland of Barnwell, SC; daughter Dawn (Michael) Westmoreland Butts of North Augusta, SC; son J.J. (Laurie) Westmoreland of New Orleans, LA; granddaughters Avery and Natalie Westmoreland; sisters Nell (Sammy) Ducan and Mary Jo Katz, as well as his special fur-baby, Cali. He is preceded in death by sisters Sandra Noe, Jane Westmoreland, Ann Smith, Jackie Sox, and Toni Long.
Wess loved his family, especially his two granddaughters who called him “Grampsie.” He loved his children and was proud of the paths they have chosen along with their spouses, Laurie and Mike. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to tend his garden to share with his friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 20th, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:15 AM at Mole Funeral Home, with graveside services to follow at 11:30 AM at the Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Ed Traxler officiating. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Keele, Roy Martin, Ronnie Horton, Ralph Moore, Coley Creech, and Ronald Still.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his home health care team, Holly Tucker, Kellie Carroll, Alison Stevens, Josh Young, Judy Villalobos, Robin Boylston, and other Remain At Home staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery, P.O. Box 126 Barnwell, SC 29812, and the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
