Obituary for Carolyn Kay Ray
Carolyn Kay McCormick Ray, 61, passed away on August 21st, 2023. She was born on March 11th, 1962 in Grayson, KY to the late Matthew Herrell and Beatrice Herrell (Claytor) Sanders.
She enjoyed many things in life, including fishing, yard sales, holidays, cooking and baking, and all-day trips to town. She loved her family, especially her grandkids, and attending family gatherings. She celebrated 30 years of marriage with her late husband, Jackie R. Ray Sr. She worked when she was able to, and was a strong provider for her family. She was a very selfless person, and always put others first.
She is survived by her children, Jackie R. (Jessica) Ray Jr. of Blackville, Shirley (Will) Croft of Barnwell, Janey (Travis) Smith of Augusta, and Ben (Crystal) Ray of Hilda; brother James McCormick of Barnwell; grandchildren Kaitlyn Ray, Alyssa Carroll, Jackson Ray, Collin Hutto, Kaylin Hutto, Tyler Zorn, Stanley Zorn, Michael Croft, Grace Zorn, Kaden Croft, Kaleb Croft, as well as 12 step-grandchildren; great-grandchild Kaidence Cheatham, and 5 step-great-grandchildren; as well as her special friend, Randy Owens.
She is preceded in death by her children, Tina Ray and Tim Ray, as well as her husband, Jackie R. Ray Sr.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023 at Mole Funeral Home from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at the Mole Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM, with graveside to follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jeffrey Ray will be officiating.
