Cibeth Legarreta Prieto Cook, 63, passed away at Aiken Regional Medical Center on November 29th, 2023. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to the late Simplico Legarreta Colón and Lydia Prieto Vega. She was a member of Barnwell Catholic Church.
Cibeth moved from Puerto Rico to New York at the age of 18 and lived there for three years. She then moved from New York to Chicago, IL and lived there for five years, before relocating to North Carolina for a short while and then settling in Barnwell in 1989. She loved meeting people and enjoying life. She loved her family and friends. Cibeth was a great cook and home decorator. She loved music and dancing, and could organize the best dinner party where all was enjoyed. She had two years in college and worked at Chapell Hill College. She had the privilege of signing Michael Jordan in and spoke proudly of their meeting.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Cook of Barnwell; her half-sister Evett Sotomeyo; stepdaughter Lynne (Mark) Villarosa; brothers-in-law Benny (Kathy) Cook, Robert (Annameta) Cook, and Ronny (Patti) Cook; sister-in-law Charlene (Ralph) Bridges; two step-grandsons Mark and Ryan; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, several cousins, and especially her little fur baby, Lillie.
A visitation will be held Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Mole Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Mole Funeral Home Chapel, with Father John DeBritto officiating. Graveside will follow in the Barnwell County Memorial (Airport) Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
