Mrs. Corrie Lee Gordon Dicks, age 91, 8910 Patterson Street passed away peacefully on August 28th at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of her angel Carol Jones and Amedysis Hospice.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 at Barnwell First Baptist Church, 181 Allen Street, Barnwell. Rev. Bart Kelley and Rev. Harry Adkins will be officiating the service. Visitation will be held in the Barnwell First Baptist Church Worship Center one hour before the service, 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to Barnwell First Baptist Church.
Born in Aiken, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Gary and Ellen Mae Gordon. She was the wife of the late William Horace Dicks Jr. and was predeceased by a daughter Rose Ellen Price. She was a homemaker, avid horticulturist, member of the Iris Garden Club, artist, and seamstress. She worked with her husband as a bookkeeper for the automotive garage business, owned and operated a florist for 10 years and was a past member of the Barnwell Fire Department. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and fishing since childhood, and was named most athletic in High School. Married to her husband for 63 years, they raised four children together, William Gordon (Peggy) Dicks, Rose Ellen (Larry) Price, Thomas Anthony (Debbie) Dicks, and Dorothy Lynn (David) Worley. She had five grandchildren, Laura Price Brochin, Jennifer Rae (Jason) Stock, Mathew (Anne Marie Checinski) Price, Gary Thomas (Heather) Dicks, and Sarah Leigh (Eric) Navarro. She had eight great grandchildren, Will, Olivia, Addison, Graham, Harley, Isaac, Delanie, and Isabel. She was a member of the Barnwell First Baptist Church for 67 years, the Connor Sunday School Class and Church Choir. Raised as a single child and by a single parent from the age of 12, she and her mother lived in the Aiken and Barnwell Counties until settling in Barnwell in the early 50s where she met her husband and High School Sweetheart.
