Obituary for David Richard Smyly
Barnwell SC David Richard Smyly, 58, of Barnwell SC died on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta GA following an extended illness. Born January 6, 1957 in Walterboro SC he was the son of the late Richard Harry Smyly and Martha Gibson Smyly. David graduated from Barnwell High School in 1975 and attended Orangeburg Technical College. He was employed by Savannah River Plant as a production operator and later as production supervisor in the 221-F Canyon Facility until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending NASCAR races, riding his motorcycle and camping at the beach. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include a son, Kyle Smyly of Charleston, SC; daughter, Kirkley Smyly also of Charleston, SC; brother, Wayne (Rhonda) Smyly of Barnwell SC, Sister Peggy (Bobby) Abbott of Blackville SC; one nephew and several nieces. David is also survived by a special friend, Dona Correll. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
