Dean Clifton Still, a brother, father, grandfather, friend and passionate equestrian, passed away on February 4, 2025 at his home in Blackville, South Carolina while doing what he loved, tending to his horses. Born on August 28, 1957, in Barnwell, South Carolina, he was known for his humor, often tinged with a touch of sarcasm, and his love to talk, never meeting a stranger. He loved drawing and sketching horses, going to flea markets, storytelling, being outside with all his animals and calling the Big Dog radio station early in the morning. One of the things he was most proud of was his sleytown roots!
Dean’s love for horses was evident throughout his life especially when riding his horses and pulling a wagon. He spent countless hours outdoors, reveling in the beauty of nature and the joy of riding. His enthusiasm for motorcycles added another layer to his adventurous and free spirit. He was blessed to work with and for his only son, Jason, as a mechanic for the last 12 years, where they were able to bond and make memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
As one of six siblings, Dean cherished the bonds of family as he went through all the phases of his life as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather where he leaves behind a legacy of living a simple life to the fullest, never afraid of walking in the yard in his bare feet and getting dirty.
He was married to the love of his life and mother of his children, Angela Still for 33 years. He leaves behind a loving family: his son, Jason Willis Monroe Still (Desiree); daughter, Amanda Kay Fulmer (Keith); stepdaughter, Shannon Gleaton Sheppard (Jamie); grandchildren, Nathaniel, Olivia, Stormy, Kyler, Kailey, Candace & family, Nick & family, Summer (Bradley), and Vivian; 5 siblings: Mickie Rutherford (Rickey), Christine Cameron(Don), Byrns (Bubba) Still, Roxie Creech (Cliff), and his baby sister and best friend Brenda Still (Dannie Gunnells) ; his beloved Aunt Mazie Jane; many nieces and nephews; lots of special friends and his best friend and side kick, his little dog Blue.
He also leaves behind 3 other stepchildren: Coley Hebrard (Connie), Susan Ryant, Kelli Fogle (Jody) and 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Rollan Still and Madeline Z. Still, his wife and the mother of his children, Angela Still and his second wife Janie Black.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday February 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM at New Harvest Outreach Ministry in Barnwell, South Carolina.
