Doyle Livingston, age 89, passed away on April 22, 2025. He was born in North, SC on May 13, 1935 to the late Wroten Livingston and Fairy Watts Livingston.
He was employed at the Savannah River Site from 1956 – 1993. It was at the Site that he met the love of his life Carolyn Moody. His first 7 years were spent as a clerk. He advanced to the Maintenance Dept in 1963 spending 25 years in various maintenance positions across the Site. In 1988 he promoted into the Safety Dept. where he spent his last 5 years before retiring in 1993.
He served in the National Guards from June 1957 – June 1963. He was assigned to various units to include Orangeburg, Fort Jackson, and Barnwell.
At age 18, he began his walk with the Lord when he received Jesus as His Lord and Savior while attending a Tent Revival. This changed the course of his life. He and Carolyn Moody were married in 1958 at Hagood Avenue Church where they served faithfully until the Lord called them to their heavenly home. He was a dedicated husband and father, and he always had a positive attitude seasoned with a good sense of humor and a strong work ethic.
As a member of Hagood, he was generous with his time, money and talents in the different seasons of the Church life. He served in various capacities during his years including working with the youth as a RA leader; church treasurer; showing servant leadership as a deacon; using his maintenance skills on various projects from light bulbs to ball fields; participating in mission trips; a faithful member of the Men’s Sunday school class and choir member in his early years.
Doyle is survived by his daughters Cynthia (Mark) Griffitt and Melinda (Jesse) Wilson; grandchildren Jessica (Michael) Peschell, David (April) Kinard, Jordan (Brittany) Wilson, and Melody (Daniel) Brady; great-grandchildren Kylie Grace Peschell, Rhett Benjamin Kinard, Lucas Elijah Peschell, McKenna Rose Brady, and Connor Doyle Kinard.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church located at 120 Franklin Street, Barnwell, SC. A service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM with Dr. Brandon Sandifer, Rev. Scott Brown, and Dr. Kenneth Catoe officiating. Afterwards, a graveside service will be held at Barnwell County Memory Gardens.
