Obituary for Edgar Allen Hartzog
Edgar Allen Hartzog, 67, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019 in the Prisma Health Richland Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Edgar was born on April 2, 1952 in Columbia SC and was a son of the late George Edward and Mary Ellen Collins Hartzog. He was also predeceased by his brother Daniel Edward “Denny” Hartzog. He was a graduate of Blackville-Hilda High School Class of 1970 and Orangeburg-Calhoun County Tech. He retired from the SC Educational TV System with over thirty years of service. He was a Past Master and life member of Blackville Masonic Lodge #63, Past District Deputy of the 5th Masonic District, Secretary-Treasurer of the 5th District Square and Compass Club, Treasurer of El Bab Shrine Club, York Rite Mason and Omar Shrine Temple. He was also a former member of the Blackville School Board District 19.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 10th in the Double Pond Baptist Church at 2:00PM with Rev. Thomas Terry officiating and Masonic Rites accorded. Private family burial will be held later. The family will receive friends at Mole Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm Memorials may be made to the Greenville Shriners Hospital, Memorials, and 950 Faris Rd. Greenville SC 29605.
Survivors include his sister and brother in law, Connie H. and Wilbur Peterson of Valdosta Ga., nieces, Wendy (Ski) Hooper of Barnwell and Christina (Mark) Odom of Hilda; Cousin-Brother, Paul Wise of Columbia; Special first cousin, Frank (Leslie) Collins of Charleston. A number of niece’s nephews and cousins.
