Obituary for Frances Elizabeth Dyches
Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Gibson Dyches, 95, passed away on June 13,2021 at Pruitt Health/Barnwell. She was born on February 16,1926, in Pembroke, Ga. She was the 4th child of the late Leeman Brooks and Mary Lou Whetstone Gibson. She was the widow of Alfred Gyles Dyches. They were married for 56 years prior to his death. She worked at Palm Beach Sewing Factory in Blackville, and retired from Deering-Milliken of Barnwell. She received her cosmetology degree and owned and operated Dyches Beauty Salon in Barnwell and later at her home in Blackville.
She was a member of Hagood Avenue Baptist Church in Barnwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 19,2021 at the Hagood Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Catoe and Pastor Tony Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Double Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the hour of the services. Covid 19 regulations will be observed. Memorials may be made to Hagood Avenue Baptist Church, Hilda First Baptist Church, Pruitt Hospice or to a charity of one’s choice. Frances will be greatly missed by her family. To all her many friends and loved ones, she bids a fond farewell.
The family would like to thank Pruitt Nursing Home Barnwell . Also our thanks to Pruitt Hospice and Salley for so many years of love, support and care. Also, our thanks to Pruitt Hospice and Salley Jamison.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary E. Dyches Sharpe of Hilda and Betty D. (Chuck) McConnell of Barnwell; grandchildren, Joe (Denise) Sharpe and Thomas (Angela) Sharpe of Hilda, Keith (Shelia) McConnell of Easley SC; great grandchildren, Caleb, Caroline, Carmen, and Amanda Sharpe, Emily (Seth) Hunter and Daniel Sharpe, Noah and Hannah McConnell; great-great granddaughter, Madilyn Elizabeth Hunter.
She was pre-deceased by a sister, Louise G. Grubbs of Barnwell, four brothers, Ernest Brooks, Robert Emmet, Laurie Brooker and Franklin Delano Gibson, a son in law Billy Joe Sharpe, Sr of Hilda.
