Obituary for Frances Ferguson Smith
Frances Ferguson Smith, 91, of Hilda, SC, passed away on June 21st, 2025. She was born in Sycamore, SC on May 22nd, 1934 to the late Winton and Inez All Ferguson. She was a member of Hilda First Baptist Church. She loved singing in the church choir, as well as leading the church’s junior choir for many years. She also enjoyed spending her time cooking for family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Harriet) Smith, Phillip (Patricia) Smith, Ray Smith, and Richard (Caralena) Smith, all of Hilda; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Janet (Harvey) Joyner, and Cynthia Towne; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Clayton Smith; brothers, Glenn Ferguson and Franklin Ferguson; as well as her sisters, Deloris Ferguson and Dottie Ferguson.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Hilda First Baptist Church, with funeral services following in the church at 11:00 AM. Rev. Chris Roberts will be officiating. Graveside will follow in the Hilda First Baptist Church Cemetery.
