Obituary for Freeman J. Nettles
Freeman J. Nettles, 96, of Hilda, SC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2015. He had resided at the Victory House in Walterboro, SC for the past 2 years. Born on January 15, 1919, in Colleton County, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Mildred Hair Nettles and was married to the late Catherine Collins Nettles. He was an active member of Double Pond Baptist Church, a member of Hilda and Blackville Masonic Lodges and a Shriner. He served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Sunbeam Corporation as the maintenance superintendent. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Double Pond Baptist Church at 11:00AM with Reverend Tom Terry officiating and Reverend Donnie Delk assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday evening at Mole Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Double Pond Baptist Church, 357 Double Pond Rd, Blackville, SC 29817. He is survived by his sons, Joe (Brenda) Nettles of Barnwell, SC, Allen (Dianne) Nettles of Start, LA, McRay (Fran) Nettles of Hayesville, NC, daughters, Debra (Frank) McCormack of Barnwell, SC, Cindy (Tommy) Langford of Aiken, SC and many grand children, great grand children, nieces and nephews.
