Obituary for Grace Hutson Sorrell
Melba Grace Hutson Sorrell, 79, passed away on April 25th, 2023 in Lexington, SC. She was born in Blackville, SC on February 28th, 1944 to the late Willard Hutson and Earldeen Beard Hutson. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. She loved to travel, camp, and the JDA Raiders. Her most important love was her family, watching them grow up and play sports. She was an avid Gamecock fan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and will be missed by all of her family and friends. She was a very giving person.
She is survived by her husband, John Sorrell; daughters Lisa S. (Dan) Birt, Lynn S. (Terry) Stoudemire, and Stacy S. (Bart) Owens; grandchildren Melissa (Rhett) Glover, Kayla S. (Carroll) Adams, Lindsey (Jackson) Cooper, Austin (Ashley) Stoudemire, Jessica (Aaron) Stack, Jonathon (Lindsey) Birt, Morgan Owens, Hunter Owens, and Sydney Owens; great-grandchildren Madison Adams, Grayer All, Adalee All, Holicyn Stoudemire, Dawson Stoudemire, Paisley Grace Owens, Easton Owens, Sophia Stack, Denver Birt, Acklin Glover, Julian Cooper, and Tradd Cooper; and brother Tommy W. (Phyllis) Hutson. She is preceded in death by her brother Willard F. (Pam) Hutson.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 28th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Carter officiating. Graveside will follow at the Barnwell County Memorial (Airport) Cemetery. The family will receive guest at Mole Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00PM-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Mole Funeral Home is assisting the family.
