Obituary for Harold Richard Geddings
Harold Richard Geddings, of Barnwell, died on June 24, 2014, at Georgia Regents University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Barnwell on Friday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. with burial at the Barnwell County airport cemetery. Dr. Steven Burnette will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Martin Harvey on Thursday evening and at the church after the service. Born on January 2, 1932 in Winnsboro SC, he was the son of Macon Harold and Pearl Moseley Geddings. Harold moved to Barnwell in 1953 to accept employment with E. I. Dupont Savannah River Plant from which he retired after 35 years. Harold was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. He was a 60year member of First Baptist Church Barnwell where he served as deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include his wife of nearly sixty years, Mary Young Geddings, a son, Harold Richard Geddings, Jr. of Casper, WY, and a daughter, Betsy Geddings (Marty) Harvey, of Barnwell. Grandchildren are Harold R. Geddings, III, James M. Harvey, III, R. Daniel Harvey, Julie E. Harvey, Rhia G. Hawes and Michael C. Geddings. Harold also had 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Laverne G. Center. As alternative to flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Barnwell Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
