Obituary for Harry Lee Guard, Jr.
Harry Lee Guard, Jr.
Harry, left us to be with our Lord and Savior July 16, 2018 at 5:25 PM. He will be greeted and welcomed by many members of his family and friend, who went before him. We can only imagine his joy, as he walks the streets of gold and sees his Savior, Jesus Christ and all the loved ones and friends he has made throughout the years.
Harry grew up in Connellsville Pennsylvania. His father was Harry Lee Guard, Sr and his mother’s name was Marian Fleming Guard. He had two brothers Robert and Donald, and two sisters Gladys and Louise. He was the second born child and the oldest of the three boys. He was loved, and looked up to as a big brother by all the other children. All of the children were active members of the Methodist church in South Connellsville, Pennsylvania, where their mother was the church pianist and youth choir director.
Harry join the armed forces, after graduating high school, and served in the Naval Air, Pacific Theater in WWII. He was a proud veteran, revered the men he served with, and loved our flag and the Good Ole, USA. He would be quick to tell you he was a lucky man, and blessed beyond what he deserved.
At the end of the war, Harry was discharged and relocated to Denmark, SC with his wife Marian Mantell Guard, and their two sons, Harry William and Ronald Lee. In the years to come they would have two more children, David Clark and Starlee Debra. Harry and Marian celebrated 72 years of marriage to one another.
Through the years Harry and Marian, moved from Denmark to Barnwell, Allendale, and Macon, Ga perusing, opportunities to open and run restaurants in each location. Later in life they found themselves back in Denmark, where Harry went to work and retired from Holland Atlantic Hitch Company, after 25 years.
