Barnwell SC Paid obit Please use Helen Gibson Paulk of obit list Mary Helen Gibson Paulk, 87, widow of Dr. Gerald Stuart Paulk, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Wednesday, March 16, 2016. Helen was born July 21, 1928 in Denmark SC., the youngest daughter of the late William Earl Gibson and Era Blanche Atteberry Gibson. She married Gerry on November 24,1946 at Ghents Branch Baptist Church. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Barnwell where they raised their children and remained for over 65 years. Helen was a loving mother and doting grandmother, better known as "Nanny". She was an active member of her community, and dedicated countless hours helping others. She was a member of Barnwell First Baptist Church, a longtime choir member, and a part of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. For Decades, she enthusiastically led the Nursing Home Volunteer Group. A natural born nurturer and avid gardener, she was also a member of the Iris Garden Club. Helen lived her life with compassion, grace and selflessness truly embodying the teachings of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be deeply missed by her family and many close friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2 pm in the Barnwell First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Keith Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell Co. Memory Gardens of Reynolds Rd. Memorials may be made to Barnwell First Baptist Church, 161 Allen St., and Barnwell SC. 29812. Surviving are her children Wendell (Gail) Paulk of Columbia, SC, Dr. Phillip (Pam) Paulk of McDonough, Ga., Brenda Paulk (James "Bo") Richardson of Barnwell, SC., Robin (Tim) Wedemyer of St. Petersburg, Fla. Special nephew, Tommy (Patricia) Gibson of Norway, SC., sister, Emma Davis of Denmark, SC., grandchildren, Stacey, Stuart, Jason, Bradley, Lindsey, Jessica, Andrew, Christopher and their spouses and loved ones, great grandchildren, Peyton, Ally, Carson, Ethan, Madison, Kendall, Prather and Paylin. Mrs. Paulk was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Gibson Fickling and Roberta Gibson, brothers, Walter Gibson and Harold Gibson.
