Funeral services for Helen Black Hightower Shealy, 96 of Barnwell SC will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rommie Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home, 9399 Patterson St. Barnwell SC 29812.
Helen went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday January 2, 2018. She was born on May 4, 1921 in Barnwell County and was a daughter of the late Milledge F. and Ellen M. Carter Black. She was a member of Ashleigh Baptist Church. She had worked for the Palm Beach Company, Barnwell County Hospital and was secretary of the Local Woodmen of the World (local camp).
She is survived by three sons, Ted F. (Connie) Hightower of Savannah Ga, Rev. H. Dean (Bobbie) Hightower of La Grange NC and R. Patrick (Eula) Hightower of West Columbia SC; sister, Lois Black Sanders of Barnwell SC; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, H. E. Hightower and James C. Shealy, her brother and sister in law Ralph and Blondell Black and brother in law, Pat Sanders.
The family suggest that memorials be made to Ashleigh Baptist Church, 14315 Hwy 3, and Blackville SC.
