Obituary for Helen Jolly Hamrick
Helen Jolly Woosley Hamrick, of Barnwell, South Carolina, died peacefully in her home on February 25, 2016. Helen was 87 years old. Helen was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina on May 30, 1928 to Lena Elliott and R. Burgess Jolly. After graduating from Polkville High School and Appalachian State Teachers College, Helen spent 33 years as a beloved teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School System. After retiring in 1982, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time with family and friends, and being an active member of Barnwell United Methodist Church. Helen is survived by her husband, Clyde E. Hamrick; her stepchildren, Richard C. Hamrick of Norcross, Georgia and Amelia Hamrick Johnson (Ron) of North Augusta, South Carolina; and her three step grandchildren, Sara Capers Grooms (Brian) of Atlanta, Georgia, Stewart Gregory Capers III of Charleston, South Carolina, and Mary Carolyn Capers of Aiken, South Carolina. She is also survived by her two brothers, Richard M. Jolly of Oakridge, North Carolina and Hugh "Jake" Jolly and wife Helen of Shelby, North Carolina; and five special nieces and nephews, 5 special great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as 4 great-great nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, William "Bill" Woosley. Funeral services will be held in the Barnwell United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 3:00PM with Rev. Fred Buchannon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Helen will be laid to rest at Elliott Family Cemetery in Polkville, North Carolina, after funeral services held at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel in Fallston, NC on Monday, February 29. 2016 at 1:00PM, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials can be sent to Barnwell United Methodist Church, 236 Main Street, Barnwell, South Carolina, or Elliott's Family Cemetery, P.O. Box, 72, Polkville, North Carolina.
