Obituary for Henry Flowe Trexler Sr
Henry Flowe Trexler Sr., 94, passed away on Monday June 6, 2016. Mr. Trexler was born and raised near Wadesboro NC.; finished N.C. State University with a BS in General Engineering, finished the Naval War College (at the Citadel) in Marine Engineering and Structural Design. He worked during WWII as an Engineer for the US Navy doing electrical, mechanical, piping, and damage control designs and served as Liaison officer for shake down cruises and as Damage Control Officer from 1943-1945. He worked with Milliken & Co. in Spartanburg as Assistant to the Chief Engineer doing electrical, mechanical, machinery layouts and utility designs from 1945-1955. He moved to Barnwell in 1955 as Engineer for Amerotron-Textron to build the Barnwell Plants and served as Plant Engineer, Superintendent of Finishing Plant, Plant Technical Superintendent and Manager of Engineering until July 1, 1987. As an active member of the Barnwell Presbyterian Church he service in many capacities such as teacher, Sunday school superintendent, deacon, elder, building chairman of the new sanctuary and presently serving as trustee and Clerk of Session, 1955-present. Memorial services will held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11 am in the Barnwell Presbyterian Church with visitation one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Barnwell Presbyterian Church, PO Box 466, Barnwell SC 20812. Survivors include his grandsons, Justin Henry Trexler and Geoffrey Flowe Trexler, and great granddaughters, Calla Faye Trexler and Summer Grace Trexler. He was predeceased by his wife, Jimmie Kelley Trexler, children, Henry Flowe Trexler Jr and Laurie Trexler and grandson, Jonathan Maxey Trexler.
