Obituary for Jake O. Rimes, Jr.
Jake Ovie Rimes, Jr. 83, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the Aiken Regional Medical Center. Jake was born on September 3, 1931 in Savannah Ga. He was a son of the late Jake Ovie Rimes Sr. and Mary Ellen Crutchfield Rimes. He was a retired pipefitter at the Savannah River Plant and a partner with his brother in R&R Mechanical Works. He was a US Marine veteran of the Korean War having participated in the battle at Chosin Reservoir. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge #17 and Harmony Hope Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where he was a past patron. He was a member of the Mt Olivet Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Barnwell Co. Memory Gardens on Reynolds Rd. with military honors and masonic rites accorded. The family suggest that memorials be made to Veteran & Military Student Success % USC Aiken, 471 University Parkway, Aiken SC 29801 Survivors include his daughter, Diane Rimes Hiers of Barnwell; a son, John C. Rhodes (Nanette) of Arlington TX; brother, Robert "Bob "Rimes (Beverly) of Kline; sister, Patricia Rimes Stalker of Savannah Ga.; grandchildren, Phylesha Hiers of Aiken and John David Rhodes of Jacksonville Fla. He was also preceded in death by a brother William Gary Rimes.
