Obituary for James Stephen "Jim" Bailey
James Stephen “Jim” Bailey, 76, passed away peacefully on July 18,2021 at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta Georgia.
Jim was born in Charleston SC on September 30, 1945 and was a son of the late William Logan Bailey and Berta Peak Bailey. He was a retired engineering tech with the Charleston Navy Yard. He was a graduate of Barnwell High School, worked as a disc jockey in his younger days with radio station WBAW in Barnwell SC., served in the SC National Guard and was a member oh Highland Park Baptist Church. His family was one of the Charter Families of Hagood Ave. Baptist Church in Barnwell SC. He taught several adult Computer courses in Charleston SC. Jim was very compassionate with a radiant smile. He was known in the family for his one finger index wave and love for BBQ.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, July 21,2021 at the Barnwell Co. Memorial Cemetery (Airport), with Rev Steven Proctor officiating. Memorials may be made to Hagood Ave, Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Parker Davis, Logan Bailey, Lawson Davis, Harrison Davis, Robert Hogg and McKinley Proctor.
Survivors include sisters in law, Belva Bronson Bailey, Sharon Greene (Robbie) Wise, Kaye Greene (Don) Smith, and Anna Fabian; brothers in law, Tom Greene and Johnny (Phyllis) Greene; nieces and nephew, Barbra Bailey (Michael) Hunter, Stacey (Britt) Hogg, Tracey (Steven) Proctor, Brittany (David) Kanagy, Susan (Rodney) Croft, Diane (Randy) Holleman and Brett (Tanner) Smith; numerous great nieces and nephews and special friend, Libby Abby.
