Obituary for Jim Paul Brantley, Sr.
Jim Paul Brantley, Sr., 83, of Barnwell, SC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home place, Black River Farm, on August 27, 2014. Mr. Brantley was born on November 18, 1930 in Lyons, Ga. He was the son of the late Shelton and Mozzell Brantley. Paul and Claudia established Black River Farm in 1983. Their home place is where family and friends gather for horse rides, hayrides, fishing, picnics, and the celebrations of special occasions and holidays. An employment opportunity with DuPont brought Paul to Barnwell in 1953. He later worked at Chill Chest, SC Regional Housing Authority, and eventually founded Tri County Pallet Company in 1969, which is currently operated by his youngest son, Gary. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery (Airport), with Rev. David Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Friday evening at Mole Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Claudia Brantley of the home, sons; Jim (Lisa) Brantley of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Gary (Robin) Brantley of Barnwell, grandchildren; Mattison Lott Brantley of Barnwell and Jack Brantley of Mt. Pleasant. Stepdaughters; Laurie (Buddy) Dodson of Chapin and Jane (Greg) Porter of West Columbia, step grandchildren; Katie (Herbert) Camp, Blake Dodson, Justin Dodson, Chad Porter, Wade Porter, and great granddaughter Layla Camp, sister; Louise Sellars of Marrietta, Ga., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
