Obituary for Jimmy "Possum" Willie Steed
Jimmy “Possum” Willie Steed, 80, passed away peacefully, September 25, 2020 in Columbia, SC.
Jimmy was born on December 16, 1939 in Allendale County, SC. He was the son of the late Johnny F. Steed Sr. and Inez Stevenson Steed. He was a retired employee of the Shuron Company. Jimmy was a faithful 15 year member of Reach Out Ministry Church, were he was involved in the music program. His love for Hank Williams Sr. was his inspiration to become an amazing guitarist. He was loved by everyone he met.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 3:00pm in the Cave United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don McCormick officiating. The family will greet guest following the service.
Mr. Jimmy is survived by his sons Wayne W. Bodiford of Barnwell and Steve C. Bodiford of Rincon, GA, brother, Johnny Franklin Steed Jr., sisters, Gladys Polly Sheppard, Kathleen Elease (Hubert Bubba) Still, and Juanita S. Crosby, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and brother in law Charles Cope. He was predeceased by his wife Louise Still Steed, daughter Faye Bearden, sister, Mary E. Shealy and husband Stephen Shealy, Eliza Ellen Cope and husband Charles Cope, and Carrie May Steed, sister in law, Dorothy Steed, and brother in law James Sheppard.
