Obituary for Julius M. McCormick Jr.
Julius M. McCormick Jr., 78, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at his home peacefully surrounded by his family. Julius was born in the Colston Community of Bamberg Co. on June 13, 1936. He was the son of the late Julius M. McCormick Sr and Marva Lee Hair McCormick. He attended Clemson College and retired after 30 years from the SC Department of Transportation as an engineer and inspector. After retirement he opened McCormick's Produce. He loved gardening, tractors, coconut cake, the mountains, Mah-gie and BBQ. He was a true "Jack of all trades". Julius was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Thursday March 19, 2015 in the Reach Out Ministries Church with burial in the McCormick Family Cemetery on Christian Rd. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until the hour of service. Survivors include his beloved wife, Margie Ray McCormick; sons, Don (Paula) McCormick and Glen (Delia) McCormick of Barnwell; sisters, Adrienne (Scotty) Kinard of Ehrhardt, Edna Sellars of Govan, Emily (Danny) Beard of Denmark and Hazel (Buddy) Sunday of Govan; brothers, Jerry McCormick of Bamberg and Claude McCormick of Olar; grandchildren, Amanda Brunson, Felecia Bates, April Williams, Lynn Williams, Scott Hutto, Allison McCormick, Kelley McCormick and Tabitha Elliott and a number of great grandchildren.
