Kathryn (“Taffy”) McArthur Corley, 75, passed away on November 22, 2025 surrounded by her family in Barnwell, SC. She was born as the second daughter to Douglas (“Mac”) Stuart and Marie Steinmeyer McArthur in 1950.
Taffy was a graduate of North Augusta High School as well as the University of South Carolina. Over her 50 year career as a nurse, she compassionately cared for countless people while serving in a variety of roles from labor and delivery to patient education, from surgery to home health. She served the majority of her career at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Augusta, GA, followed by many years at Barnwell County Hospital.
A proud South Carolinian, Taffy loved Carolina Beach Music, trips to Edisto Island, and her South Carolina Gamecocks. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, cousin, and friend. Taffy had a passion for animals and rescued and rehabilitated dozens of animals while also finding them homes (sometimes her own!). There was never a neighbor or an animal turned away if she had anything to say about it.
Taffy is survived by her husband, George Edward (“Ed”) Corley; children, Susan (Rodney) Croft of Barnwell, SC; Michael (Julie) Holly of Birmingham, AL; and Matthew (Emily) Holly of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Brian Croft, Beau (Savannah) Croft, Lena Holly, Davis Holly, and Mattie Holly; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Meg MacArthur (John Rusnak), and two nephews, Kyle and Alan Rusnak.
The graveside funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery at 155 Airport Road, Barnwell, SC 29812. Memorial gifts may be made to the Barnwell County Animal Shelter at 55 Diamond Road Barnwell, SC, (803) 259-1656, or your local animal shelter.
