Obituary for Luther Raymond Still
Luther Raymond Still, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the home of his sister. Mr. Raymond was born in Hilda SC on August 15, 1928. He was the son Ansel R. and Susie Mae Hutto Still. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marian Creech Still. He was a retired merchant having owned and operated Still's Grocery and Still's Hardware in Hilda for a number of years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Gideons International ,Hilda Fire Department, SC Forrestry Commission Barnwell County, Reedy Branch Baptist Church where served as a Deacon. He was a former member of the local First Citizens Bank Board, Barnwell County Hospital Board, and a former member of the SC National Guard. Mr. Raymond will be fondly remembered for his kindness and generosity. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, 2:00PM, February 14, 2014 at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Warren and Rev. John Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Mole Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. Memorials may be made the Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville TN 37214, or Reedy Branch Baptist Church, 411 Reedy Branch Rd., Barnwell, SC 29812. He is survived by his son, Aiken Raymond "Ray" (Myrna) Still of Hilda; sisters, Peggy S Williams of Hilda and Addie Sue S. Ficken of Barnwell; brother, Roy Allen (Betty Lou) Still of Lancaster; aunts, Mary Elizabeth Rowell of Hilda and Addie Evelyn (Ralph) Moody of Barnwell; grandchildren, Allison S. Beasley and Jonathan (April) Still; step grandchildren, Shelia (Rich) Crabtree and Brian (Meredith) Wilson; three great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild; several loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Still's family wishes to thank The Agape Hospice of Orangeburg for the care and kindness given to their loved one.
