Obituary for Margaret Gunnells Still
Margaret Gunnells Still, 91, passed away at the Barnwell Nursing Home on March 4, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Olar, SC to Freddie and Annie Mae Fail Gunnells; she was married to the late Ruben Still for 63 years. She was an honor graduate of Denmark High School. She devoted her life to taking care of her family. She was a member of Mt Lebanon Christian Church where she taught a children’s Sunday school class for many years. Her love of children is remembered by many of her former Sunday School class members.
Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening. Margaret and her deceased husband shared their love of gardening and enjoyed sharing their with neighbors and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard. Nothing pleased her more than seeing her flowers bloom in the Spring.
Margaret and Ruben were always welcoming to family and friends. They lived a good and humble life. Margaret’s passing will close a chapter in her family’s lives. A chapter that will be fondly remembered.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday. March 7, 2020 at 2:00PM in Mt. Lebanon Christian Church, with Rev. Ron Franklin and Rev. Timmy Gunnells officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Friday evening at Mole Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughters Jean (David) Hartzog of Hilda, SC and Linda (Vince) Winegardner of Davidson, NC; three grandchildren Ken (Patti) Hartzog and Stephanie (Chad) Creech of Barnwell, SC and Jessica Carter of Charlotte, NC; four great grand children Emma and Liam Creech and Braxton and Sher Youngblood of Barnwell, SC; three brothers Freddie (Bobbie) Gunnells and Olin (Betty) Gunnells of Olar, SC and Leighton (Sue) Gunnells of Barnwell and a sister in Law Alice Gunnells of Blackville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Roosevelt and Francis Gunnells and a sister Helen Miller.
