Obituary for Marie Boyd Collins
Alice Marie Boyd Collins, 89, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017 in Aiken, SC.
Born in Williston, SC on March 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Clarence and Elizabeth Ussery Boyd. After retiring from Shuron she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, attending bingo at McDonalds, helping her community by carrying Meals on Wheels and also attending line dancing at Gail Reyes with the Senior Steppers. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and member of Sunshine Prayer Group. She loved the Lord, loved her family and friends. She had a passionate love for cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Theron S. Collins, their children Cynthia (Tony) Towne of Barnwell and Eric (Jayne) Collins of West Virginia, grandchildren, Chelsea Collins, Michael Collins, Jr., Sheree Gonzalez, Kimberly (Jon) Hurst, and Tony Towne, Jr., and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Michael O. Collins, sisters Marion Hinson, Avis Price, Ethelene Grubbs, and Vera Majeski, brothers, WC Boyd, Wallace Boyd, James Boyd, Sidney Boyd, and Russell Boyd.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00AM in Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Deer officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM Sunday evening at Mole Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 or to the Azalea Woods Nursing Facility, 123 Dupont Dr., Aiken, SC 29801.
