Obituary for Martha Sue Morris Sanders
Martha Sue Morris Sanders passed away at the age of 101 on February 8, 2025, at the Presbyterian Communities of SC.
Martha Sue was born in Olar, SC, the oldest of seven daughters to Corinthian C. Morris and Mattie Lou Bauknight Morris. She attended school in Olar and Batesburg Leesville. After graduating high school, she attended Drounghns Business College. Martha married Herman Sanders Jr. on January 15th, 1943. They resided in Barnwell, SC for over 65 years until moving to Cayce to be near the children. They were married for over 72 years until his passing in 2019.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth H. Sanders (Geraldine) and was predeceased by one daughter, Beverly Sue Sanders Gauche’ (Paul), four grandchildren Monica Sanders O’Cain (Laird), Kimberly Sanders Christ, Paul Gauche’ Jr. (Melissa), and Allison Gauche’, as well as five great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at the Starr Cemetery in Olar, SC on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Jeff Gibson officiating. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Olar First Baptist Church, or a charity of one’s choice.
