Obituary for Mary Catherine Frye Lindler
Mary Catherine Frye Lindler, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. She was born in Columbia, SC on June 25, 1939, to David and Henry Etta Caughman Frye. Mary Catherine enjoyed helping others and contributing to her community. Over the years, she taught music at Mole Preschool, gave private piano lessons, and was a significant presence at Berley’s Pharmacy and Evelyn’s Jewelry & Fine Gifts. Her most rewarding career was being a loving homemaker for her family. She took great pride in providing a warm and loving home. She was a great cook and a wonderful hostess. Mary Catherine delighted in being in various social clubs and enjoyed the company of her dearest friends. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a member of Williston Presbyterian Church and loved to listen to the incredible organ music, in particular. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her infectious laugh.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years Berley Lindler, Jr.; one daughter Renee (Randy) Nolff of Columbia, SC; one son, Berley (Randal) Lindler, III of Charleston, SC; one brother, David (Pope) Frye of Lexington, SC; one sister, Susan Frye of Columbia, SC; one brother-in law, Abby (Chalmer) Lindler of Aiken, SC; two grandchildren, Catherine (Andrew) Scercy of Charlotte, NC, and Pierce Nolff of Columbia, SC; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Donna Googe and Carol Jones for being extraordinary caregivers.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, April 1st at the Mole Funeral Home in Barnwell, SC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 2nd at St. David Lutheran Church, located at 132 St. David’s Church Road in West Columbia, SC with the Reverend Doctor Beth Yarborough officiating. Burial will be in the St. David’s Lutheran Church Cemetery following the service, and friends are invited to attend and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Williston Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choosing, in her memory.
