Obituary for Mary Kay Hightower Still
Barnwell SC paid obit Mary Kay Hightower Still, 76, of Barnwell, S.C. entered into eternal rest at Providence Hospital on December 26, 2016. Kay was born in Ashepoo S.C. on July 1, 1940 to the late Harold and Kathleen Delk Hightower. She is survived and dearly loved by her husband of 58 years, Merrell C "Little Goat" Still of the home; sons Chip Still (Jackie) and Stevie Still 9Tammy), granddaughter Lauren Still Croft (Martin), grandson, Trey Still (JoAnna), and great grandsons, Jase Croft and Grayer Croft, her brother, Robert Hightower of Highpoint N.C. and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother Harold Delk Hightower and a sister Anne Hightower Williamson. Kay lived life to its fullest and was the matriarch of the Still family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was an avid card player, fisherman, cook and traveler. She invested her time in her family and friends and to helping others. Kay never met a stranger and had a talent for entertaining and making others feel welcome. A 1958 graduate of Denmark-Olar High School, she was voted wittiest, friendliest and most dependable and most athletic. She was an active member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church and a former GA's leader and director of youth Sunday school. She was greatly involved in the community including the Sandlapper League, Southern Carolina Alliance, American Cancer Society, the Red Hat Society, and the Winton Assembly. She was retired from Regions Bank as Senior Vice President and was in Who's Who of American Business Women. In 2015 she was named Economic Development Ambassador of Barnwell County. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church in Barnwell SC. The funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, December 28 in Hagood Avenue Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
