Obituary for Melanie Moore Corell
Melanie Moore Corell, 66, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023. Melanie was born in Barnwell, South Carolina on August 22, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Willard Moore and Esther Moore Williams. She was a member of Lower Three Runs Baptist Church where she was a former WMU director and Vacation Bible School leader. She was a Sunday School teacher and director of the Youth Choir for 25 years at Seven Pines Baptist Church. Melanie was a retired school teacher of 37 years with Barnwell School District 45. She taught middle school science and wrote grants for Guinyard-Butler Middle School to have STEAM days and eventually a full working STEAM lab. Over her many years of teaching, she touched the lives of countless students. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from USC-Aiken and her Masters degree from Lesley University.
Melanie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years Ralph Corell Sr., and her grandson Ryan Wood. She leaves behind the following: her children Dana Wood (Mike), Mia Handberry (George), and Creig Corell (Nicole); her grandchildren Corinne Wood and Cordie and Leighton Handberry; her two brothers Gerald Moore (Annette) and Paul Moore (Sheree); an Uncle Carrol Cheek (Sharon); mother-in-law Angeline Little; and brothers-in-law Mark Corell and Alan Corell (Brenda).
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 11th, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Mole Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Sunday, November 12th, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Seven Pines Baptist Church, with graveside to follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Fred Orr will be officiating.
