Paul M. Ringus relocated from the New England area with his family, to Barnwell 36 years ago to work for ‘The Site’.
Born in June of 1948, he lived long enough to celebrate the 200th and 250th birthday of our country, as he passed in the early morning hours of July 4th, 2026. He was a man of many talents with a servant’s heart. He loved the Lord, his family, friends and his church family at Holy Apostles, where he sang in the choir. Paul completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Southern Wesleyan University through his work at Savannah River Site, and he traveled nationally and internationally as a metrology expert, creating measurement and test gages used in the nuclear, aeronautics and commercial industry.
Woodworking was his passion and other talent. He could design, draw intricate plans, build and fix just about anything made of wood. When the Site asked him to stay on after retirement as a private contractor, Paul replied, “Unless you start building things out of wood, no thanks!”
In retirement, he designed, built and repaired numerous pieces of furniture for friends and the local community - and helped build quite a few sets for Circle Theatre!
As his legacy, he passes on his talents to his beloved family, his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth (Liz) Whelpley, his daughter, Erin, (Andrew ) Burke and grandson Alexander of Houston TX, his son, Adrian (Ashleigh Gibson) and granddaughter, Kinsleigh of Lexington, SC.
A memorial service with cremation internment will be held July 25, at 11 am at the church of the Holy Apostles in Barnwell and the family will receive condolences at a reception following in the church Parish Hall.
To honor Paul, he made his wishes known; in leu of flowers, send memorials to Holy Apostles Church, Restoration Fund, PO Box 207, Barnwell, SC 29812. God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good!
