Paula Vaughan Mazursky, 76, passed away on November 7th, 2023 in Charleston, SC. She was born in Augusta, GA on November 21st, 1946 to the late Herman and Louise Vaughan Mazursky.
Vaughan graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1969. She also attended Sophie Newcomb college in New Orleans, LA, and earned her Master of Arts in Teaching degree from The Citadel. She was a passionate educator and was devoted to her students. She worked at Middleton High School and retired from Porter-Gaud in Charleston, SC. She led school debate teams on a national level as well as Porter-Gaud’s GAWA, Geography and World Affairs, team.
She is survived by her brother, Barnett Mazursky; cousins David Garber, Joey Vaughan, Jackie Edmonds, C.B. Hallman, Cary Goodwin, Cai Glushak, Joanna Glushak, Rachel Mazursky, Paula Somberg, Michael Somberg, Lewis Somberg, Bonnie Somberg, Beryl Dandridge, and Allan Godchaux. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Louise Mazursky, and her sister, Beryl M. Barlow.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Mole Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel, with graveside to follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Morris Lent will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Moore, John Mole Sr., Scottie Thompson, Bryan Beacham, Rudy Ward, and Greg Platt, as well as honorary pallbearers, Danny Saylor and David Garber.
