Obituary for Ralph Emmett Black, Sr
Ralph Emmett Black Sr., 81, passed away February 26, 2021 at his home in Barnwell, SC.
Emmett was born on November 21, 1940 in Barnwell County, SC. He was the son of the late Francis O. and Mozelle Grubbs Black. He was predeceased by his first wife Frankie Black, currently married to Dorothy Black. He served 5 years with the Barnwell National Guard. He was a wise, humorous, Christian man. He was a farmer who loved working outside in his fields and riding his tractor. He was the owner and operator of Black’s BBQ for many years. He was a Godly man that loved and cherished his family and friends. The family will always think of him when they see a sunrise which was his favorite part of the day.
Graveside service will be held at 3:00PM, Monday, March 1, 2021 in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rite following, with Rev. Harry Warren officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell. Serving as pallbearers will be, David Black, Jimmy Black, Franklin Black, James Williams, Pickens Williams, David Williams, Ralph E. Black lll, and Stevie Still.
Emmett is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Black of the home, children Sue Eichberg, Ruth (Dean) Gunnells, Jeannie (Dannie) Gunnells, Nancy Hydrick, Karen (Allen) Bontrager, Greg (Rose) Baltzigar, and Vickie (Randy) Fanning, and Joy Black, 21 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, 15 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Frankie Black, a son Ralph Black ll., brothers and siters, Ceil Black, David Black, Oneal Black, and Lucille Pearson
