Obituary for Sonny Broadway
Richard (Sonny) R. Broadway, Jr., 91, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on August 26, 2022. He was born on June 14, 1931, to the late Richard and Theola Broadway. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Savannah River Plant until his retirement. Sonny loved his family, golf, a good card game and sharing a drink of Early Times with his buddies. He lived his life to the fullest every day, always with a smile.
Sonny is preceded in death by his wives, Kathleen Broadway and Fay Broadway; his sisters, Manilee Broadway, Margaret Gould and Mazel Russell. He is survived by his children, Debbie Schultz (Larry), Kay Claytor (Phil), Wendy Clamp, Bart Wallace, and his grandchildren, Cecilia (Will), Elizabeth (Brad), Steven, Blake (Emily), Kelsie (Chandler), and Grace. He is survived by his sisters, Cora Whittington and Millie Robertson.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Barnwell Methodist Cemetery at 9357 Patterson St. Barnwell, SC, with Rev. Rob Cely officiating. The family request that donations be sent the Barnwell United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
