Obituary for Robert Leonard Cheek
Robert Leonard Cheek, 79, went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He was born in Barnwell County on October 24, 1936 and was the son of the late Lacy L and Maggie Jones Cheek. He was a retired truck driver for Chem-Nuclear Systems Inc. having achieved the 1,000,000 Safe Miles award. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Epperson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Mole Funeral Home. Survivors include his daughter, Robin (Toby) Utsey of Barnwell; Granddaughter Hillary Fields and Great-Granddaughter, Natalee Fields of Lexington SC; a sister, Ellen Hutto of Pickens; brothers, Noah (Linda) Cheek, Vernon (Molly) Cheek and John (Mary Ellen) Cheek of Barnwell; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Briggs Cheek, a sister, Annie Laura Fort and brothers Richmond and William Cheek. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to Parker Residential (Drucilla Parker and Debbie Coleman), the care-givers at Pruitt Health Barnwell and Pruitt Health Hospice of Aiken.
