Obituary for Rosanne Finley Buchanan
Rosanne Finley Buchanan, born January 13, 1928 in Mountville, S.C. died Tuesday, February 10 in Greenville, S.C. She was the daughter of Percy and Lou Ella Finley, the youngest of their nine children. She was a graduate of Mountville High School and Drone's Business College of Greenville, S.C., and worked at Clinton Mills. Rosanne married Furman Buchanan in 1950, after his return from serving our nation in World War II. In 1956 they moved to Barnwell, S.C. and opened Barnwell Home and Auto, a Firestone franchise. They started a family, and became actively engaged in the life of First Baptist Church, and the community at large. They had four children, Becky, Susie, Emily and Furman Lee. Furman died in 1976, after an illness with cancer. During that time Rosanne drew upon the strength of her faith to be a source of compassion and grace for her husband and children. After Furman's death, she continued to manage the family business for six years before selling it and beginning a new vocation as the bookkeeper at Barnwell High School. She worked in this position for ten years, while also enjoying her vocation as a grandmother. Rosanne lived at the home she and Furman built in 1962, until she transitioned to an assisted living facility in Greenville, S.C. in the spring of 2012. She is survived by four children--Becky Reynolds (Benjie), Susie Holcombe (Curt), Emily Williams, (Pickens, Jr.), and Furman Lee Buchanan (Kim); nine grandchildren--Ben Reynolds (Katrina), Beth Shine (Patrick), Jake Jones (Rachel), Joe Jones (Audrey), Sam Williams (Sarah), Nathan Williams (Brittany), Katherine Buchanan, Finley Buchanan and Lamar Buchanan; and nine great grandchildren--Hilton and Huck Reynolds, Charlotte and Abi Shine, Maddi Haller, Abi Jones, Ella, Luke and Lee Williams . The funeral service will be Friday, February 13th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Barnwell, S.C. The family will receive friends following the funeral service in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall. The burial will be at Barnwell County Memory Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Barnwell First Baptist Church, Road to Freedom, 161 Allen Street Barnwell, S.C. or Alzheimer's Association 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621. Mole Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
