Obituary for Sandra Lee Rowley Woodward
Sandra Woodward finished the adventure of life Friday at 5:20 pm surrounded by her proud family in Aiken. Although it was a sprint through the Pearly Gates she is now enjoying heavenly peace and happiness with those who raced before her. Having built and immense sense of humor, service and patience through many years as a submarine wife, her large family and group of friends will always remember her as an example of grace and humility. Likely never having had a fully hot meal for herself, she dearly loved her family, kids, grandkids and cooking for anyone who piled into the kitchen. Perhaps the food was a lure to just have them near so she could constantly love and serve them. She was crafty. Her true happiness was doing things for others, whether she knew them for 10 years or 10 minutes. Although she often fought with the British lady in the GPS system and the clunky washing machine, she never met someone who wasn't and instant friend. It is also certain that, even as this obit is written, she is saying, "Get off that darn computer". Now though, her legendary Mac and Cheese is being served, as it is truly fit for a heavenly meal. But her real passion was her belief in wings, especially those of Angels. She certainly had many. Perhaps they were short staffed, were hungry, or just needed some proper training, because the Lord called her into eternal service. However, we can all rest easier knowing that she is flying above us, spreading joy and laughter where it's needed most. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel in Barnwell SC at 3:00PM. Burial will follow in the Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 pm until the hour of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Before she took flight, she raised many more to properly carry on her legacy. Whether they were blood or by marriage, the love was equally abundant. Wrapped in her joyous example, going forward include her loving and dedicated husband of nearly 45 years, Grover C. "Woody" Woodward III- the rock of her life. Together they shepered an admiring family of children; Jason (Kim) Woodward of Westerville, OH, Brandon Woodward of Martinez, GA, Deborah (Jacob) Cox of Irmo SC, Thomas Schweitzer deceased and Michael Woodward of Spartanburg, SC; brothers Jay Rowley of Aiken SC, Marc Rowley of Hanover CT and Robin Rowley Deceased; parents Kenneth and Mary Elizabeth Rowley deceased; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Although flowers are heartwarming, she currently has the house (more than) fully stocked. Her greatest wish was success and comfort for others, especially her family. Her focus on education and hard work can be honored with donations to the US Submarine Service Veterans Charitable Fund (USSVCF) - Education / Scholarship Fund. www.USSVI.org, 15145 Fog Mountain Cir., Haymarket VA 20169-8155
