Obituary for Sarah Anne Barber Boney
Sarah Anne Barber Boney, age 78, of Clinton, SC, died May 6, 2023, in Clinton, SC from recently-discovered neuro-endocrine cancer.
Sarah was born on October 13,1944 in Columbia, SC. She attended Allendale-Fairfax High School and Brevard College. She married her husband, John, in 1964, and together they raised four children.
Sarah and John lived most of their life together in Barnwell, SC, where John and Sarah together founded and operated Boney Motor Company. They were actively involved with the First Baptist Church of Barnwell and the community. They renovated and built together several houses and grew their family.
Her greatest enjoyment in life was her lifelong relationship with the Lord. She was particularly proud of her family, and she loved painting, gardening, flower arranging, her koi pond, and riding horses.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Durham Boney, Jr., her children Durham (Sandi) Boney of Columbia, SC, daughter Tiffaney (Jerre) Threatt of Clinton, SC, son Walter (Amy) Boney of Barnwell, SC, and grandchildren Anna Grace Boney, Matthew Boney, Brooks Threatt, Kaitey Threatt, Mason Boney and Noland Boney. She is also survived by her sisters Sandra Pherigo of Columbia, Portia (Bill) Gunnells of Columbia, SC, Monnene (Larry) Sorrell of Columbia, SC, Beth (George) Estes of Columbia, SC, brother Thomas (Pam) Barber of Newberry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Helen Louise Boney, and her parents, Thomas and Sara Barber.
Sarah’s family would like to thank doctors and staff of Prisma Health Cancer Institute of Greenville, SC, VIA Health Partners Hospice & Palliative Care of Laurens County, and niece Tammy Lee Murray, who were especially helpful in the past months.
The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Barnwell on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 11am to 12 noon- with a funeral service to follow at the First Baptist Church of Barnwell sanctuary. The burial will be at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery in Barnwell (adjacent to the Barnwell County Airport) following the funeral service.
Flowers are welcome, and memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, VIA Health Partners Hospice & Palliative Care of Laurens County, or the charity of one’s choice.
