Obituary for Shellie Edward Renew
Shellie E. Renew, 82, of Barnwell, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 after a brief illness. Shellie was born in Barnwell County, October 10, 1931. He was the son of the late Crimmins and Carrie Beasley Renew. Shellie retired from Milliken & Company in 1991 with 35 years of service. He then worked for Wal-Mart for 10 years. Upon leaving Wal-Mart, he assisted his son at the Green Dollar Pawn Shop and Warhorse Motors. Shellie worked his entire life until October 2013 when he became ill. He enjoyed preparing and working his garden each year and his hobby of raising his chickens. Shellie was an avid Gamecock Fan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Flossie Simmons Renew, granddaughter, Morgan Leigh Renew, brothers, Wallace, Willie, Odell, Bobby Renew and sister Lois Carson. Survivors include his children Sophia (Johnnie) Bessinger, Ricky (Tina) Renew, Connie (Richard) Gilbert, granddaughters Whitney Cook, Madison Renew, grandsons Blake and Kyle Renew, sister Marlene Holden, son-in-law David J. Cook and his special friend, Pam Pennington. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014, 2:00 PM at Ashleigh Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Gunnells officiating. Burial will be at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery (airport). The family will receive friends Friday, January 31, 2014, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Mole Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Steve Renew, David Renew, Donnie Renew, Johnny Holden, Robbie Rice and Shane Carroll. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Blake and Kyle Renew.
