Obituary for Susan Marie Queen
.Susan Marie Queen, 65, died on December 9, 2020. Susan was born on November 19, 1955 in Barnwell, SC., she was the 4th daughter of Charles Isaac & Berneta Weaks Queen. She was in the Class of 1973 of Barnwell High School, and attended the University of South
Carolina, and Georgia Tech.
During her marriage, Susan lived in Atlanta, Ga, and managed a gift shop, before returning to Barnwell to work in the family business, Queen Gas Company. She also co-owned the Frame Gallery.
Susan loved the Lord, and drew strength from the Bible. She was a member of Barnwell First Baptist Church and in later years participated in Celebrate Recovery and AA.
She loved all animals especially dogs and horses. She was an accomplished equestrian, had a horse farm near Snelling, and raised American Quarter horses. She was an adept gardener and had a beautiful rose garden on the farm. Intelligent, funny and charming, Susan made friends wherever she lived or travelled.
Susan is survived by her sisters, Ruth (Rallie) Seigler of Columbia, Becky (Dale) Loper of Ruffin, and Charlie (Bill) Coffey of Chesnee, and loving nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents and her nephews, Marshall Seigler and Cameron Loper.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 2:00PM in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Jack Heinsohn and Rev. Kate Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to The Barnwell Animal Shelter, 55 Diamond Rd, Barnwell, SC 29812, The Grace Home, P.O. Box 407, Santee, SC 29142, or the charity of one’s choice.
