Obituary for Tommy Smoak
Thomas Gilbert “Tommy” Smoak III, 65, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital.
Tommy was born in Bamberg County on November 3, 1952. He was a son of the late Thomas Gilbert Smoak Jr and Mozell Gilliam Smoak. He was a retired employee of NRCS. He was a member of the Reedy Branch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and worked with the youth by cooking for them every Wednesday. Tommy was a kind and loving man who enjoyed the company of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11 am in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell Co. Memorial Cemetery at the airport Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, October 12, 2018 at Mole Funeral Home In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Reedy Branch Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include his loving wife, Debra Pearson Smoak of Barnwell; sons, Derek (Pam) Dyches and Jamie Dyches of Barnwell; sister, Christine (Wade) Hough of Olar, SC; brother in law, J.W. Rosier of Barnwell; grandchildren, Ryan Vickers and Travis Derek Dyches; niece Meranda (Rusty) Jackson, Cody, Austin and Caleb; nephew Brad Hough, Ben and Zoe Hough. He was predeceased by a sister, Kathy Smoak Rosier and a brother Phillip Smoak.
