Obituary for Van Cooper
Evander McTeer “Van” Cooper Sr., 82, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Van was born in Kline, SC on March 12, 1935 and was a son of the late Ray Dolph and Gladys McTeer Cooper. He retired as a Health Physics Supervisor with Savannah River Site. He was a member and former deacon of the Barnwell First Baptist Church and served in the SC National Guard. He loved animals and always seemed to have a pet dog around. He loved to fish and play golf and was always greeted by a friend or two while running errands around Barnwell. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 20, 2017 in the Barnwell Co. Memory Gardens on Reynolds Rd. officiated by Rev. Keith Richardson. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Mole Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Barnwell First Baptist Church, 161 Allen St., Barnwell SC 29812 or to Barnwell County Animal Advocates 28 McDonough St., Barnwell SC 29812.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Graybeal Cooper of Barnwell, SC; children, Cathy Cooper of Columbia, SC, Evander McTeer “Bo”Cooper Jr. (Becky) of Florence, SC, Clark Cooper (Mandy) of Lexington, SC and Bonnie Cooper Huth (Randy) of Columbia SC; affectionately known as “PawPaw” to his six grandchildren, John Huth, Carrie Cooper, Abby Huth, Judson Cooper, Elizabeth Cooper and Mary Huth; and a brother, Ray Cooper Furman SC.
