Obituary for Virgie Sanders Ray

Virgie Sanders Ray, 82, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Carlyle Senior Care Center in Aiken, SC.

She was born on November 16, 1941 in Barnwell County, and was the daughter of the late Toby Joe (TJ) and Ethel Mae Sanders. She was married to the late James B. Ray and they had one daughter, the late Virginia Ann Williamson. She was a faithful member of the Green Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. She was a woman with a sweet spirit who loved her family wholeheartedly. She enjoyed cooking home cooked meals, rides to town with her daughter, attending church functions, and helping others. She and her husband, James, enjoyed trips to Maggie Valley. She was an avid homemaker and was often found working with her family on the farm or in the garden harvesting crops. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Carlyle Senior Care Center and Enhabit Hospice for the care they so greatly provided during her extended illness.

Funeral services are planned for Sunday, January 28th, at the Green Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3 p.m. with Rev. Timmy Gunnells and Rev. Jeffrey Ray officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to service from 2-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in memory of Virgie S. Ray to the Green Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church in Barnwell or to the Carlisle Senior Care Center on Dupont Dr. in Aiken, SC.
